Mapping Phase
After all the planning is done and the storyboard is set, animators begin piecing those pictures together to create an animatic. An animatic is sort of like a moving comic strip, it helps the artists get a better sense of timing and movement in the film. More changes will probably be made during this step.
There will also be temporary voice actors acting out the scenes, since casting and recording is still being done. When the final voice actors have been recorded, the artists may include some of their personality into the animation.
